In line with Advario's growth strategy, we're actively recruiting new teammates to join us in our new organisation in Rotterdam, Netherlands headquarters.

We’re currently recruiting for a VP HSSE to be part of our transformational journey.

In this newly created role you will be responsible for creating and deploying Advario’s HSSE strategy by providing leadership, guidance, and direction to ensure successful planning, implementation, and sustainment of global strategic initiatives. You must be able to align strategy and operational execution with the executive leadership team, clusters, terminal management and functional leaders. You will partner with the Chief Projects and Safety Officer to prioritize HSSE OKR’s and Advario’s environmental, social and governance program and have functional accountability for achievement of safety goals and strategic initiatives related to HSSE. In this position you will ensure that the required standards and management systems for HSSE are observed across the Advario Group. You will report directly to the Chief Projects and Safety Officer.

Your tasks:

  • Strategically lead the corporate HSSE team in defining as well as steering the HSSE strategy, programs, policies and standards within the Advario Group

  • Lead the global HSSE community and the corresponding management team

  • Cultivate safety awareness and safety culture within Advario Group

  • Ensure a cross-functional collaboration between Global Projects, Clusters & Terminals, Operational Excellence and Operational Safety as well as other functions such as the Controlling, Audit, PMO, Sustainability and the People teams

  • Provide strong HSSE leadership, facilitating necessary change and process improvements, challenge status quo, foster accountability and drive safety in operations and process technology

  • Advise Leadership Team on strategic direction, HSSE performance and internal alignment requirements and frequently represents Advario internally and externally at all levels

  • Ensure that HSSE policies, risk assessment, management tools, audit & oversight processes, regulatory information resources, data management and metrics are in place to sufficiently manage HSSE risks, compliance requirements

  • Continuous identification of opportunities for improvement and both measure as well as report on progress towards safety goals across Advario to the Leadership Team, regulatory stakeholders, auditors and shareholders

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your profile:

  • Minimum 15 years safety leadership related experience with proven track record and minimum 5 years proven leadership experience in Chemical process industrial environment and Operations

  • Master’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene or related field is preferred

  • Experience aligning strategy and operational execution with executive management

  • Track record for successfully rolling out global HSSE programs

  • Deep understanding of the business and its drivers from a technical, operational and HSSE point of view

  • Able to think long term, prioritize and communicate rationale (e.g. the “why”) to drive urgency and actions through the clusters and terminals

  • Strong partner of the company’s executive management, capable of developing a sense of trust and followership among direct and indirect team members at all levels of the organization

  • Leads by objectives and example/walk the talk, who is both credible and reliable

  • Committed, can-do mentality, high-energy level and self-motivated

  • Open, strong strategic, and analytical mindset with the creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches for problem-solving

  • Excellent stakeholder-and interface management, fostering collaboration and productive business relationship

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead, manage a team and motivate employees

  • Result oriented while never compromising ethics, integrity or safety

  • Fluent in English.

  • Role is based in headquarters in Rotterdam, the Netherlands

  • >50% of travel may be required
