Research and development (R&D) is essential to Boskalis. We continuously invest in the development of new methods and cutting-edge technology to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and environmental sustainability of our dredging, offshore energy and salvage activities. The R&D department of Boskalis is a cool place to work if you want to make your mark on highly diverse challenges and solutions. For example, R&D is involved in enabling environmentally friendly dredging, developing cable trenchers, formulating new offshore wind installation concepts, and devising salvage work solutions.</p>

A junior R&D engineer takes an active approach in resolving project-related challenges and deploying creative solutions in partnership with our engineering department. Your responsibilities will include implementing technical advancements across various business units' projects. Your expertise in generating innovative solutions will be directed towards practicality, feasibility, and business viability. Additionally, as an innovative team member, you will have the opportunity to work on experimental topics.</p>

In the role of junior R&D engineer you will work on a variety of projects. You can think about projects such as:</p>

Combining vessel sensor data and soil investigation data with physics to visualize a critical operation and support operational decision making.</li>

Simulate a complex project to find the optimum utilization for different types of vessels.</li></ul>

\\nYour responsibilities as junior R&D engineer:</strong></p>

Working in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to the process of construction and modification of equipment.</li>
Elaborating ideas into new concepts and generating alternatives.</li>
Performing measurements in practice as well as in our in-house laboratory.</li>
Analyzing results and developing new computational models. </li>

Applying and further developing data science techniques (AI, Digital twin, data assimilation).</li></ul>
Your qualities and experience </strong>
\\nYou can move ahead as junior R&D Engineer if you have:</p>
A Master\\u2019s degree in a technical discipline (e.g. dredging, offshore or maritime).</li>
A passion for engineering in a maritime setting.</li>
Solid Python skills/knowledge.</li>
The ability to self-start (independently doing research and finding your way in the organization).</li>
Willingness to travel.</li>
Good command of written and spoken English, preferably also Dutch.</li>
Eligible to work in the EU</li></ul>

Your team:</u></strong> You will be part of the corporate R&D department of Boskalis. The department exist of a team of 25 engineers with a passion for development and innovation.</li>
Where you will work:</u></strong> For office-based roles, in consultation with your manager and your team, you work partly at home and partly in the office.</li>
Full/part-time job</u></strong>: The position of R&D engineer is a full-time (40 hours a week).</li>
