This is the role

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Europe Communications and in constant relations with Site Managers in the Netherlands, potentially UK and/or Spain. Act as the first level interface between Dutch sites and external stakeholders such as media, local authorities, communities and environmental associations;

• Generally, preserve and enhance the reputation of the company around its Dutch sites. Support the full range of Corporate Communications strategies and tactics as needed, including stakeholder engagement, media relations, social media, social performance and communications measurement;
• Develop and maintain up to date the Crisis Management Communication plan for Dutch sites, train the emergency response team and lead the local crisis communication team during any technical incidents, social events, environmental issues impacting Dutch sites;
• Develop plans together with site management and the Senior Advisor, Global Corporate Citizenship, to spend charitable contributions budgets for the Dutch sites in line with Corporate Advancing Good strategy;
• Support local Government Relations activities as needed in collaboration with Government Relations.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a communications professional you:
 

• Provide strategic advice and counsel to business clients and leaders;
• Serve as a trusted advisor and first point of contact for the business;
• Partner with other teams in content and visual storytelling, encouraging functional alignment and information sharing;
• Lead and execute campaigns and projects with skill and professionalism;
• Anticipate the needs of clients, stakeholders, and management;
• Manage and develop communications resources, and toolkits;
• Represent the company with integrity and abide by the code of conduct.

You also:
 

• Manage media and stakeholder interactions, preparing and guiding spokespersons in The Netherlands;
• Dig for stories and make sure it resonates with target audiences;
• Develop, review, and edit communications materials for accuracy and consistency;
• Maintain and enhance client and stakeholder relationships;
• Collaborate with business leaders and clients to secure buy-in and approval;
• Implement metrics and KPIs to measure outcome and celebrate success;
• Partner with design team to execute creative concepts;

For internal clients, you:
 

• Develop and execute an annual communication plan on country and site level;
• Develop and execute communication plans and tools for incidents or major events;
• Provide support for specific projects with internal or external impact;
• Organize media training for spokespersons and emergency response teams;
• Review Dutch translation of corporate messages.

For external clients, the communication professional must:
 

• Maintain and enhance relations with neighboring communities and groups;
• Provide support for visits of and outreach to local officials or authorities;
• Identify local charities and execute plan for contributions;
• Prepare and execute outreach to local media and prepare stories;
• Coordinate memberships and represent LyondellBasell in trade associations;
• Maintain links with relevant schools and universities.

This is what you bring

Having fluent communications skills oral and written in Dutch and English, if you speak Spanish it is a plus. Ability to speak to individuals and groups with confidence; ability to translate technical and/or complex information into messages that can be easily understood by non-company audiences and that are appropriate to the audience. Being able to interact with people at all level of the society; having diplomatic skills and professional demeanor. Experience with communications in related fields (5+ years of related experience).
