We’re currently recruiting for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Civil Engineering to be part of our transformational journey.

As a Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for providing expert-level guidance and support in the design of new but also the evaluation of existing onshore civil structures, jetty construction, steel structure design, reviewing of soil investigation reports and advising on most economical civil related structures while preparing tender documents for any kind of greenfield, brownfield or repair work related works. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge in a dynamic and stimulating setting.

Your tasks:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on civil engineering aspects of tank storage construction related projects, including civil structures, jetty construction, and steel structure design

  • Assess existing civil and steel structures and prepare repair plans and scope in case of incompliance and analyse potential additional loads to be added to existing civil and steel structures

  • Review and assess soil investigation reports to ensure compliance with industry standards, project requirements and a fit for purpose design approach

  • Conduct thorough reviews or preparation of tender documentation, including specifications, drawings, and technical proposals, to identify potential issues and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the CoE Engineering community, including maintenance engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables

  • Offer technical expertise and support during the planning and execution phases of tank storage construction projects, addressing any challenges or technical concerns that may arise

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to tank storage construction and civil engineering, and share knowledge with the team as appropriate

  • Act as a mentor and resource for junior engineers, providing guidance and fostering their professional development

  • Participate in project meetings, client presentations, and technical discussions, offering insights and recommendations based on your expertise

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and standards within the civil engineering department

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your profile:

  • Master degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

  • Extensive experience (typically 8-10 years) in civil engineering, with a focus on construction projects, preferably in the tank storage industry or other related industry

  • Strong knowledge and expertise in civil structures, jetty construction, and steel structure design

  • Proven experience in reviewing and analyzing soil structure reports and tender documentation

  • In-depth understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards in the field of tank storage / building construction

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative and practical solutions to complex engineering challenges

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capability to mentor and guide junior engineers and third-party engineering service providers

  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software tools

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Autonomous, willing to take responsibility

  • Fluent in English

  • PE certification

  • Familiar with AutoCad but also other calculation tools.
