Maasvlakte II opened in 2015 and remains the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal, and equipped to handle the largest container ships way into the future. In 2019, the addition of two Super Quay Cranes and ongoing efficiency improvements will increase volume capacity by more than 20%.
The use of green energy and fully electrified equipment made it the world’s first zero emission terminal for CO2, NOx and particulate emissions. With fully fenced-off automated areas, separating men and machines, it is also one of the safest. This makes APM Terminals Maasvlakte II one of the most innovative terminals in the world.

About the job position
As a Procurement Specialist, you will:
Be accountable for leading complex procurement projects
Gather and analyze information on opportunities and threats on global
markets, (potential) supplier capabilities & performance, financial- and supply risks and customer demands. Translate into concrete actions for procurement strategies, performance indicators, vendor management and supplier relationship management;
Actively engage with and be a business partner for key stakeholders to understand business requirements and incorporate them into category strategies, supplier selection, supplier evaluation and decision making processes;
Advise on improvement of quality and efficiency of procurement and supply chain processes;
Drive innovation and continuous improvement in product and process innovation with suppliers and the supply chain;
Responsible for procurement process to select and maintain a world-class supply base and procuring goods and services at optimal terms for the organization;
Drive cost control and reduction of procurement related spend and assure limited price increases related to market indicators;
Perform vendor management and supplier relationship management to maintain and improve supplier performance. Together with stakeholders make recommendations on supplier acceptability;
Develop and maintain market- and procurement knowledge through regularly visiting suppliers and trade shows. Actively keeping up with global developments and market developments in the assigned categories. Maintaining a network in- and outside the organization and pro-actively sharing knowledge with the business and within the Procurement team.
Critical Qualifications & Experience
Technical / professional qualifications
Bachelor+ degree through education or experience;
NEVI 2
Dutch (Must have) and English language (written and spoken);
Experience
At least 2 - 5 years of experience in (international) tactical sourcing;
Solid knowledge on assigned (sub)categories and markets;
Demonstrated professionalism in strategic sourcing and tactical procurement, procurement and supply chain processes;
Knowledge of organizational processes, business administration, financial reporting, supply chain value creation, commercial handling, negotiating, regulations/legislation and contracting.
Skills
Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills;
Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently;
Change agent, ability to change processes and structures towards purchasing excellence. Bridge builder, style flexibility & ability to switch between different levels, ability to handle resistance;
