Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for improving terminal operations? APM Terminals is seeking an experienced Terminal Operations Designer to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of terminal design and efficiency. You’ll work across global projects, including greenfield developments and improvements to existing terminals, helping to deliver world-class operational models and designs that align with our ambitious goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Design & Strategy: Develop and audit terminal designs, operational models, and simulations to optimize the use of assets and improve efficiency across APM Terminals. Ensure alignment with our Way of Working and standardized processes.
- Project Leadership: Provide guidance during project execution, supporting scope changes, and resolving local design and operational challenges.
- Investment Proposal Review: Oversee and challenge operational investment proposals exceeding $200M annually, ensuring that proposed solutions drive productivity and value creation.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Investment, Global Operations, Procurement, and Terminals to drive business value through superior design and operational practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to diagnose and resolve root causes of operational issues, improving terminal layouts, capacity, and processes.
- Change Management: Act as a change leader, influencing decision-making at all levels from senior corporate management to local terminal teams.
- Innovation: Lead operational modeling and simulations for greenfield projects, ensuring the integration of automation, asset digitization, and cutting-edge technology.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in terminal operations design, with a focus on improving layouts, asset utilization, and operational processes.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage large-scale, complex projects.
- Expertise in terminal simulations, operational modeling, and Lean methodologies.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Willingness to travel globally to support terminal projects, guide design solutions, and ensure project success.
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
