Program Planning Lead
APM Terminals
APM terminals has embarked on an exciting new growth strategy. Based on its vast experience and internationally recognized processes we aim to have a best-in-class implementation setup through standardized and optimized clear processes whilst managing an agile team to enable delivery. This setup will enable successful evaluation and delivery of various types of projects including large new capital investments, integration of mergers and acquisitions and expansions of existing facilities. We do not only deliver the asset but also the business. We delivered projects in Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Ghana, Turkey among other location. Our current portfolio consists of brownfield and greenfield projects located worldwide.
As a Program Planning Lead you will be directly exposed to these strategic projects. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert and have the opportunity to collaborate with various functions in the organization and local project teams. You will take ownership of the Schedule standard, ensure it is consistently implemented across the portfolio and co-create improvement roadmaps. The scope of work involves asset and business ramp up. Over time, the opportunity exists to grow and be involved in more aspects of project controls and build capability towards becoming a rounded Project Controls Lead.
Overall
- Take full ownership of the schedule standard and it’s roll out and adherence
- Co-create improvement roadmaps with local project teams
- Ensure local project teams have the necessary tools to drive the schedule standards locally
Risk management and reporting
- Conduct analysis based on the data of project being executed, highlight risks and propose mitigations
- Generate reports, dashboards and presentation for stakeholders
- Maintain accurate documentation of all program
- Address emerging issues with relevant stakeholders.
Coordination and communication
- Collaborate with functional SMEs, local project teams and Head of Portfolio
- Communicate changes, risks, or updates in the program schedule effectively to all relevant parties
- Ensure new developments (e.g. new dashboards or tools) are properly introduced and support the teams to drive their usage
- Meet with project planners and/or project team members to maintain full awareness of issues
- Ensure that elements of the Integration Framework are aligned and integrated with other relevant APM Terminals processes
Coaching and Training
- Coach project schedulers located in projects.
- Be responsible for onboarding team members irt to the Scheduling standard
- Provide structural feedback and co-create improvement plans to help developed project’s planner skills and capabilities
- Provide training sessions
Project Management
- Support in refining and driving improvements towards an overall world-class Integration Framework which aims at executing APM Terminals’ projects with clear processes, transparent decisions, strong documentation and effective best practice deployment
- Lead and/or assist internal transformational projects (kaizens)
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of experience as Project scheduler across across multiple medium-size or large infrastructure projects
- Proficient with Primavera P6
- Good working knowledge of project management in capital intensive/infrastructure projects
- Experience in improving, embedding project management standards and tools
- Excellent communicator, able to influence without hierarchical power
- Excellent English written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Other languages are a plus.
- Good working knowledge of other project controls disciplines, is a plus
- Experience in scheduling business ramp-up, is a plus
- Able to work and adapt to changes and be comfortable with ambiguity
- Ability to take initiative and produce results
- Humble and willing to be open to learn
- Traveling will be required (~25%)
