Role Purpose:
APM Terminals has embarked on an exciting new growth strategy. Based on its vast experience and internationally recognized processes we aim to have a best-in-class business implementation(BIM) setup through standardized and optimized clear processes whilst managing an agile team to enable delivery. This setup will enable successful evaluation and delivery of various types of projects including large new capital investments, integration of mergers and acquisitions and expansions of existing facilities.

of HSSE, budget, scope, time, quality in a total integrated manner, delivers real value to the company. We build on and aim to continuously improve our project management framework to increase the incremental value delivered to the APM Terminals business.


This Project Controls Lead (PCL) role forms an integral part in the development of bids for growth opportunities in building new terminals as well acquiring and/or expanding existing facilities. As key deliverable, the PCL will drive BIM/COO functions’ contribution to competitive bids that enable our planned investments in Growth to be delivered successfully and unlock the
desired business value over time. This entails owning the development of requirements, scope, cost, schedule, organizational, and risks aspects across multiple concurrent opportunities.

The purpose of the PCL role is to develop, align, and maintain a coherent set of critical information across operational, technical, and project execution related domains, so that informed decision-making can be made during the bid preparation. This requires a project controls SME who is a proficient communicator across all levels within an organization, paired with project management skills to drive and facilitate the bidding process in a complex stakeholder environment. The PCL uses their sound business acumen as well as an affinity with
technical content to identify misalignments and allow areas of risk to be understood and challenged. Finally, the PCL is able to evaluate and work at an appropriate level of detail to align with the sensitivities of a given bid, its preparation stage, and its underlying business case.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Own and drive the development, alignment, and maintenance of the operational, technical and project execution related scope within a bid, in compliance with APMT standards

• Drive the overall bid preparation process across probe, develop and secure stages as main BIM/COO function representative towards internal stakeholders such as Investment and Finance teams, incl. leading workshops such as risk identification sessions

• Challenge business and technical content from an overarching perspective to ensure alignment and consistency in the approach (towards an overall coherent and competitive bid)

• Support the integration and management of the resolution of issues between functions and workstreams, as well as planning / prioritization of resources • Facilitate the development of high level ‘what-if’ scenario planning in support of project decision-making

• Develop high-level schedules in Primavera P6, encompassing technical and business operational deliverables based on an overall project / business ramp-up narrative

• Develop cost estimates, consolidating input from external and internal SME (operational, technical, execution related) incl. benchmarking vs. similar projects and established norms

• Undertake basic risk analysis in support of the establishment of time and cost contingencies

• Engage in and incorporate bid preparation elements related to business integration and/or ramp-up, including organisational and Joint Venture related aspects where required

• Handle standard work, e.g. reporting materials for internal and external stakeholder

• Secure proper final tender documentation at a high quality in English

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

• Graduate degree (MSc or similar) in a technical-based discipline is preferred

Experience:

• 5-10 years of relevant project controls / project management experience, with exposure to pre-bid process across the scheduling, risk management, cost estimating, document control

• Experience working on terminal construction, or large civil construction projects is desired

• Experience working in a container operations environment would be ideal

• Bid / proposal development experience is desired

• Full professional fluency in English. Second language (e.g. Spanish) is a plus.

Systems Knowledge:

• Primavera scheduling software experience

• MS Office Personal

• Business acumen and technical affinity – able to comprehend bid contents / trade-offs and to articulate these to a wider audience
