Purpose of the role

  • Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective ship management for the vessels under Fleet Management & Technology responsibility.
  • Ensure that Maersk Fleet Management & Technology operate fully aligned with the company’s core values as well as goals commonly set by the Management of Maersk Fleet Management & Technology and with a foresight to prepare for the projected growth with respect to safety, competence building, human resources, systems and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Economical Voyage Execution

  • Support all Maersk Operated vessels in terms of driving safe voyage executions implementing digital tools to ensure efficient voyage planning, setting new standards and pursue innovation within digital sphere allowing for safe and efficient voyage execution.

Voyage Execution Operations

  • Adhere to Voyage Execution processes and SOPs
  • Continuously take part in improving Voyage Execution processes while reducing waste at the same time
  • Close interaction with the with digital development branches of Maersk to ensure correct tools are being developed supporting Maersk Operated vessels in planning and executing their voyages in a safe and efficient manner.

Inter-Departmental cooperation

  • Engage with Marine Standards and Fleet Operation teams to achieve the safe and economical voyage execution
  • Engage with TbMs to achieve the most cost-efficient vessel operations
  • Work closely with TbM’s to minimize impact of weather, both at sea and in port. Protect Schedule Reliability while ensuring safety is not compromised.
  • Ensure proper implementation of bunker saving initiatives being run in conjunction with other departments
  • Ensure proper and relevant feedback is sent to StarConnect Project team as and when required.

Safety, security and Pollution prevention

  • Safety shall be the top-most priority while supporting vessels voyage execution
  • Monitor the weather closely in close coordination with the Company decided weather-routing provider ensuring vessels at sea are proactively approached for any adverse weather forecast.
  • Assist security Dept in ensuring all Maersk owned vessels are adhering to Security policy while transiting High Risk areas.
  • Support vessels to comply with international pollution prevention regulations through appropriate Fuel grades
  • Support chartered fleet to comply with owners’ safety, security and pollution prevention policy while operating under Maersk.

Report generation and data management

  • Ensure efficient data management and conduct Root Cause analysis to help in Process Improvement
  • Ensure all data sensitive to Maersk is managed as per Maersk IT policy

Communication

  • Conduct meetings / calls as per Standard Work and ensure all agreed actions are recorded and shared
  • Adhere with Maersk communications guidelines

General

  • Take initiative for proper and timely action in all respects.
  • Keep Management advised of developments within the area of responsibility.
  • Make suggestions for improvements / cost savings within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that proper business/economic evaluations are made prior to taking decisions so that established budgets are not exceeded.
  • Carry out work in conjunction and close co-ordination with relevant departments, organizations, and ship-owner entities.

We are looking for

  • Captains or Chief Officers with rank experience of at least 1 to 3 years.
  • Individuals willing to work in shifts.
  • Staff with strong Communication, Marine and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in use of on-board programs (StarConnect, SPOS) is a prerequisite
  • Broad understanding of Marine Operations / Ship Management related processes
  • Good stakeholder management, creative thinking, and persuasive mindset with a “can-do” attitude.
  • For Positions located in Rotterdam EU Citizen.
