We are looking for a Cost Engineer to analyse project expenditures, monitor cost trends, prepare financial forecasts, and collaborate with project teams to ensure budget control and cost efficiency in offshore and shipbuilding projects.

Tasks & responsibilities:
- Analyse project expenditures and monitor cost trends to identify potential overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and implement cost control methodologies to ensure project budget adherence.
- Establish the initial project budget, incorporating relevant technical, cost data, and assumptions from the estimation phase.
- Prepare and evaluate cost estimates for design modifications and execution changes.
- Analyse project budgets and commercial data using trending, earned value, and in-house methods to prepare monthly cost forecasts.
- Prepare and consolidate monthly project financial reports, including project forecasts and cost control summaries.
- Assist in the formulation of financial reports for senior management, providing insights into cost performance and risks.
- Identify, prepare, and submit project variation orders for approval by the Project Manager and Client.
- Provide cost data to assess supplier change requests or contribute to client change requests.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Planning, Contracts, Purchasing, Engineering, Construction, and Accounting) to align on cost-related matters.
- Promote a cost-conscious work environment, ensuring all team members understand how their activities impact project costs.
- Ensure high-quality cost information is provided regularly to the Corporate Estimating Department for benchmarking and continuous improvement.
Requirements Cost Engineer
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in cost-estimation or project cost control within the offshore or shipbuilding.
- Proficiency in cost analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of cost control methodologies and budget management.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and the ability to learn and use specialised software.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Team-oriented approach with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
