At Blockbax we are setting a new standard for data-driven operations. We create software that turns asset data (think millions of sensor readings, control signals and related data) into customer value. We are now looking to expand our team with an experienced hands-on Backend Engineer.

We are a good mix of frontend, backend and cloud engineers. What we have in common is that we like to wrap our head around complex software engineering challenges and ultimately translate them to easy to use software that users really want to use. Our team of engineers work with the latest technologies in AI, data streaming, data warehousing and container orchestration.

What you'll do

• Design and implement backend systems that are efficient, maintainable, and built to handle growth.
• Craft robust APIs to power our applications and provide seamless experiences for our users.
• Ensure robust and high-performant data handling with distributed data infrastructure (streaming, SQL and NoSQL).
• Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver top-notch features.
• Ensure everything is secure, scalable, and reliable, meet the highest standards.
• Participate in code reviews, write comprehensive tests, and make sure we keep shipping fast.

What we’re looking for

• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a backend developer, with strong expertise in Java.
• Skills: Proficiency in frameworks like Spring Boot or Hibernate; experience with RESTful API development; understanding of microservices architecture.
• Data infrastructure: Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Cassandra, ClickHouse).
• Tools & platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Problem-solving: Ability to analyze complex problems and design effective solutions.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Bonus: Affinity with AI (ML and LLMs); experience with distributed systems or event streaming (e.g., Kafka).
