The role

We are currently seeking an experienced Shipbuilding Engineer to join our Tugs Engineering department. As a Shipbuilding Engineer, you will be part of an international team looking for ways to improve existing designs or create new designs which will help Damen Workboats to stay ahead of competition.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with co-makers, suppliers, and all relevant departments, including Research & Development, Design & Proposal, Supply Chain, Services, and Production. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all shipbuilding constructions and systems meet industry standards and regulations while being seamlessly integrated into the overall design.

Key accountabilities

In this role you will be:

• Working on the shipbuilding design and engineering aspects of our projects;
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations;
• Monitoring work progress (Engineering) and making adjustments as necessary to ensure projects are completed on time;
• Supporting in the client, class and national authorities approval process;
• Structural design and integration of steel hull and outfitting;
• Coordination of work with the Engineering Project Manager;
• Ensuring appropriate quality of engineering work within one or more projects at a technical level.

Skills & experience

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in shipbuilding design and engineering in the maritime sector;
• Strong knowledge of shipbuilding construction and systems used in the vessels;
• Creating technical design and solution, based on functional and/or stakeholder requirements;
• Organizational and project management skills (aimed at Engineering);
• Experience with marine industry standards and regulations;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• Communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Relevant certifications or qualifications in Shipbuilding Engineering or related fields.
