About Us

Damen Services is the service division within the Damen Group and delivers all the after-sales activities for the Damen portfolio with a prime focus on workboats and offshore support vessels. The division aims to be the strategic partner to deliver sustainable service and support during the lifecycle of Damen customer’s assets.

Damen Services has a global coverage with service hubs worldwide and its head office in the Netherlands. By providing excellent service with the initial delivery and throughout the lifecycle of Damen vessels , Damen Services strives for recurring customers for both new build and service. The primary focus is to further enhance the service portfolio on the Damen installed base and to add value to the market by utilizing knowledge of Damen vessels and their systems. Through our strategic global presence, we aim to be present as close to our clients as we possibly can, while ensuring that we continue to act as one Damen Services at all times.

The organization is based on a decentral management model, with area teams that are end-to-end responsible for selling and delivering services in their area. Area teams usually consist of a multidisciplinary team of commercial and operational roles, both in the head office and in the service hubs. A central governed part of the organization covers specialized commercial services, acts as an expertise and knowledge center on Damen service and provides operational, commercial and staff expertise in support of the area teams.

Meet our Damen Services training department

The (Customer) training department within Damen Services is responsible for the preparation and execution of all technical, nautical, shipbuilding and maritime-related (customer) training programs sold. This involves a wide variety of vessel types and the different products of Damen worldwide. The department is characterized by a collegial atmosphere and currently consists of 4 employees who, in cooperation with the Damen organization, serve the customer in the desired training.

Are you a good fit for the Team Lead position at Damen Services?

As a Project manager and Team Lead Training, you are responsible for the total execution of the projects that are assigned to you. Including the financial result, from the moment of assignment to delivery, invoicing and follow-up. You are involved in all phases of the training project, from the preparation phase to the execution phase and the evaluation. In this role, you maintain an overview and take the lead.

You are responsible for preparing a training or educational program, organizing additional aspects such as the course location and procuring external training components. You work from the office, there is a possibility to work from home and sometimes at customer locations where training is conducted.

The majority of the training we offer is tailored to the newly sold vessel and the customer's organization.

Key accountabilities

This is a good fit if you like to:

  • Executing the training project management through monitoring the planning, progress, quality and budget;
  • Preparing and drafting the training project plans;
  • Execute the task of Team Lead training, through the yearly performance cycle, team project planning and execution, ensure the team members’ added value in project management and team structures. Reports the project results with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Designs training programs;
  • Works with an external system or training vendors and ensures seamless integration of their programs into the Damen Services approach;
  • Ensuring responsible subcontracting in consultation with the Procurement Department on the basis of approved subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Regularly consulting with the client on the progress of the project and agreeing on additional and/or less work, within the established commercial policy frameworks, as well as incorporating the relevant data into schedules and budgets;
  • Actively propagating and promoting company, safety and environmental rules and applicable regulations.

Skills & Experience

  • You are strong in communication, engaged, customer- and service oriented, and a true team player;
  • You excel in planning and organizing, maintaining financial oversight, with attention to detail and quality;
  • You lead the small (customer) training team in a natural and coworking way;
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a similar role in a project environment;
  • You can provide (training) advice to individuals within and outside the project team, you can put things into perspective, and moreover, you have the patience sometimes necessary to achieve the desired project result;
  • Knowledge and experience such as that of a Maritime Officer and/or from shipbuilding, maritime engineering, or mechanical engineering;
  • An excellent command of both Dutch and English languages, both written and spoken;
  • And you want to see something of the world and have no problem with occasional short-term business trips;
