The role
As a Combat Systems Engineer at Damen Naval you work together with other engineers, technical subcontract managers and a sub-project leader in a Combat Systems project team. As a team you are responsible for delivering the Combat Systems suite on board one of our new construction projects, such as the ASWF Frigate project for the Royal Netherlands Navy and F126 project for the German Navy.
Key accountabilities
As the Engineer Combat Systems at Damen Naval, your key responsibilities will include:
Analyze and revise Combat Systems packages for products based on specifications.
Implement improvements to Combat Systems packages and consult with team leads and stakeholders.
Synchronize project activities related to subcontractor deliverables.
Support subcontractors and suppliers during project preparation and execution.
Assist in defining and validating functional and physical interfaces.
Ensure compliance with all requirements and specifications.
Deliver quality engineering products to the Proposal Department and production group.
Participate in contractual milestones, tests, and trials (FAT, HAT, SAT).
Assist with warranty issues identified by the warranty authority.
Skills & experience
To excel as the Engineer Combat Systems, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- 3+ years experience in engineering and/or subcontract management of complex (combat) systems, preferably acquired in the shipbuilding/offshore industry.
- Experience in liaising with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors’ staff and project managers in shipbuilding or a related industry.
- Understanding of a variety of engineering concepts (V-model) and practices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Technical domain.
- Good command of the Dutch and English language (written and verbal)
- Willingness and flexibility to travel abroad to from time to time, when and as required to support project activities and objectives.
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
