About us

Damen Financial Services (DFS) aims to support customers to realize their business objectives by offering the most suitable financing solutions for the acquisitions of Damen vessels. The robust growth of Damen Shipyards in recent years has led to increasing demands on financial solutions.

Providing financial solutions to customers is a unique sales tool for Damen Shipyards and enhances the sale of Damen vessels. DFS can arrange a diverse range of financial services from sophisticated project finance structures to the more standard Damen supplier credits and leases. This team can arrange loans for small start-up companies buying their first vessel but also for large international organizations, worldwide public institutions and governmental departments requiring assistance for multi-vessel contracts.

The role

We are looking for a Manager Finance & Administration for the division Damen Financial Services.

Damen Financial Services (DFS) distinguishes itself from the other Damen divisions by offering a set of diverse (sustainable) financing and maritime solutions. These offerings comprise a.o. of short term try-before-you-buy leasings till full service offerings.

The Manager Finance & Administration will be reporting to the Financial Director of Damen Financial Services and has a vital role in realizing all the internal- and external financial reporting of the Damen Financial Services entities (some 100+) and the consolidated divisional reporting, cashflow planning and a variety of financial analyses.

In order to so you will collaborate with the various teams within DFS, such as Operations, Trading, Financial Solutions and Commercial Asset Management teams. Additionally you will leading a small team (currently 1 FTE) and also closely collaborate with our Finance Shared Service Center (FSSC), which is carrying out several bookkeeping tasks for the Division, as well as (Group) expertise centers such as Treasury, Tax, Legal and Group Control. This position is an excellent opportunity to work in a very dynamic, growing, and international organization.

Key accountabilities

  • Coordinating financial processes within Damen Financial Services.
  • Being responsible for the monthly and annual financial (group) reporting process for all Damen Financial Services entities as well as the monthly consolidation on a divisional level, in close cooperation with FSSC;
  • Being responsible for the long- and short-term cashflow planning;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the required tooling to improve the current cash- and result forecasting;
  • Supporting the Financial Director in reviewing, updating, and documenting the organization’s financial policies and procedures to ensure full compliancy with (inter)national laws and regulations;
  • Ensuring (accounting) standards for division reporting are applied in accordance with Dutch and local GAAP and not conflicting with the Damen Accounting Manual.
  • Ensuring tax compliance for the division in close cooperation with the group expertise center Tax.

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Accounting or a-like (AA);
  • (minimum of) 5 to 10 years of relevant experience (accounting, reporting etc.);
  • Driven, ambitious and engaged;
  • Accurate and well-structured;
  • Hands-on attitude;
  • Team player: flexible and able to work in a small team within a dynamic work environment;
  • Affinity with automation and digitization of reporting processes and (PowerBI) analytics;
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Business Central (or familiar ERP);
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
