Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. We recently secured significant funding by SPRIND – Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.

Role Overview
As a Senior Biotechnology Research Scientist (f/m/d) in our trailblazing startup, you will spearhead innovative biotechnology research projects. Here, you’ll lead a team driven by passion for scientific breakthroughs, particularly in ssDNA production, within a culture that values creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge in biotechnology and a proven track record of individual contributions to significant scientific advancements in the field.

What you will do
Drive advancements in high cell density E. coli cultivation and ssDNA production research.
Implement and optimize large-scale biotechnological processes through innovation and expertise.
Ensure excellence in production and quality assurance in our biotech facility.
Lead and inspire a team of skilled biotechnologists.
Uphold high standards of laboratory records, training, and documentation.
Oversee the management of our microbial culture collection.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in biotechnology and incorporate cutting-edge techniques into research methodologies.

Requirements:
Master’s degree or PhD in biotechnology, molecular biology or in a related field
At least 10 years of experience working in a biotech laboratory setting, with a preference for industry experience.
Mastery of biotechnological techniques and deep knowledge and experience with lab scale bioreactors and high cell density E. coli cultivation
Proficient in molecular cloning and experience with bacteriophages, in particular M13 filamentous phage and lambda phage
Proven leadership, with a track record of successful team management.
Positive, open-minded, keen on continuous learning and teaching.
Fluent in English.
Preferred
German language proficiency.
Experience with pilot scale bioreactors (up to 200 L)
Experience in ssDNA scaffold production
