For our Corporate Finance team in our head office in Leidschendam, the Netherlands, we are looking for an addition as Business Controller to our FP&A group control team. You will pro-actively contribute to Fugro’s finance transformation with the implementation of a change management culture by challenging & replacing established processes and procedures where necessary.
You will drive improvement in disclosure of key metrics at Group level including: pricing, asset utilization, fixed / variable cost, chartering periods and commitments, backlog margin and project profitability (pre- and post-calculation). Thinking through from transaction level till consolidation at group level. Specifically driving the continuous process improvements with respect to reporting, (scenario) analysis, financial planning and business cases processes.
You pro-actively support strategy execution and the performance culture by delivering meaningful, accurate and timely reporting & analysis on business performance, thereby supporting relevant stakeholders (Supervisory Board, Executive Committee, Divisions and Regions) to make fact-based sound business decisions. You do this by pro-actively support execution of financial planning by preparing and supporting performance and strategy/planning meetings with relevant stakeholders. As part of the finance roadmap you further develop relevant KPIs and meaningful reporting and analysis by deploying world class financial processes, reporting and analysis across the business.
About us
Finance at group level covers the full scope of Finance activities: Insurance, Fiscal, Treasury and Group Control. The Group Control department acts as a ‘Center of Expertise’ for accounting, internal control, reporting, planning and analysis. The department is, amongst others, responsible for the external reporting such as the half year and annual reports and internal management reporting and KPI analysis, internal control and the accounting manual.
Your role
Develop meaningful KPIs and reporting on business performance, providing deep insights and fact-based analysis, by means of: monthly performance (third party cost analysis, capital expenditure, cash), monthly forecasting, strategic update, annual plan, etc.;
Provides in-depth understanding of the business by driving conclusive analysis (no questions, but answers), translating variances in KPI’s and macro-economic information into actions;
Monitoring effectiveness of improvement initiatives towards key stakeholders. Takes initiative to bring relevant financial issues to the attention of his/her relevant stakeholders;
Benchmarks financial & cost performance with historical data / competitors;
Sparring partner for the Group Controller, CFO and Investor Relations on matters regarding financial planning and analysis, reporting cycle and ad hoc requests;
Support the process for the monthly Forecast process and preparation of gap analysis.
Your track record
Master degree in a Business Economics study or related and academic background with relevant professional qualification (Register Controller or equivalent);
5+ years working experience with control, advisory or business analyses, preferably within an international environment;
Flexible team player with infallible integrity and ethical standards;
Excellent communicator and team player in an international & multi-stakeholder setting;
Advanced technical skills in Excel and PowerPoint, PowerBI is a plus. You can contributes to quality, accuracy and integrity of information stored in their systems;
You have excellent English language skills both written and oral.
