Job Description

Fugro operates a fleet of specialised multipurpose survey vessels equipped with state-of-the-art survey spreads. For our head office in Leidschendam, the Netherlands, we are looking for a Vessels Category Manager who is responsible for creating and executing a procurement strategy, optimisation and cost savings in compliance with global standards and guidelines by selecting, contracting and evaluating suppliers.

In this role you lead the Vessels Category from Procurement perspective by successful designing strategies to maximise value for the company and supplier relationships. You play a key role in this context by developing & executing sourcing strategies, negotiating and managing agreements with suppliers and serving as a focal point for procurement requests.

Your Role

  • You are responsible for goods and services in the Marine & Vessel category e.g. docking, vessel equipment, engineering, offshore personnel and other related activities;

  • You develop and implement a comprehensive sourcing and contracting strategy, integrating ESG aspects and sustainability practices in alignment with the company's overall procurement goals and objectives;

  • You build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage performance to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services;

  • You conduct market research, identify potential suppliers, considering ESG and sustainability risks, and lead the end-to-end procurement process, including RFQs, RFPs, and negotiations, to achieve optimal terms and conditions.

  • You identify opportunities to optimise costs, drive savings initiatives, and implement efficient procurement practices;

  • You monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards;

  • You develop key performance indicators (KPIs) that incorporate ESG and sustainability criteria, and conduct regular evaluations of suppliers' performance in these areas to drive continuous improvement and maintain our standards.

Your track record

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification (e.g., NEVI, CIPS) is a plus;

  • You have proven experience (5+ years) in procurement or strategic sourcing and contract management, ideally in the Marine and Vessel category, preferably within a multinational organisations;

  • You are experienced in strategic sourcing methodologies, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management;

  • You have an excellent command of the English language, good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels;

  • You have strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
