About the job:

Based in The Hague, Netherlands you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join The Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Centre (JISRC). JISRC’s vision is to assure information superiority for NATO. Its Mission is to deliver, support and protect valued ISR capabilities, expertise and services and to maximise operational effectiveness for NATO through a wide range of coherent JISR services, supported by well-trained, highly knowledgeable and uniquely experienced staff, in four key JISR domains: Intelligence Applications, Operational ISR Support, Electronic Warfare/Surveillance Services and Geospatial/Meteorological/Oceanographic Information Services. JISRC is responsible for the full lifecycle of its services.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Principal Solution Engineer who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific/engineering support to projects within the Electromagnetic Warfare and Surveillance domain. Contributions will include, but not be limited to Electromagnetic Warfare systems modelling, Surveillance and Surveillance network modelling, concept development, research, experimentation, testing, prototyping and test bedding, laboratory trials and demonstrations, verifications and validations activities, support to systems acquisition, and relevant military exercises and operations;
  • Within a team, support assessment of capabilities of existing and national intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) sensors or systems or potential future concepts.
  • Lead the development of complex solutions ensuring consistency with agreed requirements;
  • Take full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects. This includes the preparation and submission of a Price Proposal, Contractual Package, and contribution to source selection process according to the defined procurement strategy.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

  • A Master of Science (MSc) degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a technical subject (telecommunication systems, electronic engineering, physics or an electronics related scientific or engineering discipline, or other relevant scientific discipline) and 5 years post-related experience; Or a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a technical subject (telecommunication systems, electronic engineering, physics or an electronics related scientific or engineering discipline, or other relevant scientific discipline) and 8 years post related experience;
  • Analytical capability and knowledge of concepts and technologies in areas such as system analysis, terrestrial and space communication systems, networked surveillance capabilities, sensor systems, sensor networking and management, Radio Frequency (RF) systems, state estimation/tracking and Electromagnetic Warfare capabilities like direction finding and jamming;
  • At least five years recent, proven experience, sound knowledge and expertise in Electromagnetic Warfare and Surveillance Systems; and additionally at least one of the following areas: sensor networks, tactical data links, combat communication systems, satellite communications, counter improvised explosive device (CIED) systems, navigation systems, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), air traffic control technologies;
  • At least five years of experience as project manager in C4ISR acquisition and / or development projects for a large organization;
  • Experience in dealing with military organisations; including requirements capture and refinement, and successful delivery of expertise or systems;
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, using tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
