Job Description:

NIBC Bank is looking for a skilled Data Management Specialist to join our dynamic Data Management Services Team (DMS) at the mid-career level. Situated within the Data & Analytics Department, DMS plays a vital role as the center of our enterprise-wide data governance organization. Our current focus revolves around the implementation of a new cloud data platform, underscoring the significance of data governance and quality management. We are committed to enhancing our data maturity while fostering engagement with diverse stakeholders, where we expect that the Data Management Specialist plays a vital role in setting out direction and implementing the Data Management Strategy.

The team reports directly to the Chief Data Officer (CDO). Besides the dedicated individuals within the team, DMS is collaborating with a virtual team of data champions (also known as data stewards) and data owners within the organization as well as the Enterprise Architecture team. In your function, you will report directly to the head of the Data Management Services Team.

The DMS team operates as the central data governance and data management unit for the entire organization. Together, we contribute significantly to the implementation of our data strategy through frameworks, templates, processes, and policies. Our data strategy focuses on three main objectives:

1. Simplifying the Data Landscape

2. Accelerating Data Availability and Change

3. Enhancing Data Governance and Quality Control

What will you do?

Your key responsibilities will be:

Data Quality (DQ) Management:

- Implement the DQ framework, including DQ procedures for specific business units (BUs), taking responsibility for 1-2 domains.
- Promote and enhance the DQ issue management process by engaging with teams to advocate for the process.
- Assist in the rollout of the DQ tool within the business and among data champions, including planning, training, and reporting.
- Analyse and resolve data quality issues and gaps by collaborating with champions and issue raisers.
- Establish central reporting for DQ procedure implementation and DQ issues and gaps.

Data Governance:

- Set the agenda and lead the monthly Data Champion meetings.
- Manage communication and stakeholder relationships with data champions, acting as the lead of the virtual team of champions.
- Contribute to the governance setup within the cloud data platform, focusing on data ownership.
- Develop and implement a data governance scorecard to identify improvements with data owners.
- Serve as the owner of the NIBC Business Glossary, promoting its use across the organization.

Day-to-Day / Generic Tasks:

- Provide in-house and onboarding training for data management.
- Maintain and update the DMS home page by uploading new documents and adjusting texts.
- Update JIRA tasks and manage planning via the Kanban board.
- Participate in projects as a representative of Data Management.
- Stay informed about industry best practices.
- Define data management metrics to monitor progress and report to the ADMC.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with data management tooling

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as information management, finance or computer science.

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience, with a proven track record in the field of data quality management or data governance.
