The Infrastructure & Cloud Services department (I&CS) is responsible for ensuring stability, business continuity and reliability of Robeco’s data processing and IT environment. Within I&CS, the Monitoring & Control (M&C) team is responsible for the reliability of Robeco’s production application landscape. As part of this responsibility, M&C manages several ITIL-processes for Robeco internally as well as multiple third parties, including IT providers. M&C directs several suppliers, monitors the availability of the IT infrastructure and the timeliness of business-critical IT processes, informs stakeholders about disruptions or unavailability of systems and data processing, solves disruptions, fulfills requests and/or administrative actions on the application landscape and directs for structural improvements on the IT environment.

Position & Requirements

Your role

As the Product Owner - Observability, you will play a pivotal role in driving the observability strategy for our DevOps organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and deliver observability solutions that empower us to proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize our systems and applications. This role requires a deep understanding of observability tools, practices and it's business and process designs, as well as strong communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and Prioritize Product Backlog:
    Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize features and improvements for our observability tools, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Product Strategy:
    Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for observability, outlining the roadmap and long-term goals.
  • Requirements Gathering:
    Work closely with DevOps teams to gather requirements and feedback, translating them into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Foster collaboration between development, operations, and other relevant teams to ensure a holistic approach to observability.
  • Tool Selection and Evaluation:
    Continuously evaluate and recommend new observability tools and technologies to enhance our monitoring capabilities.
  • User Experience (UX):
    Champion the user experience by ensuring that observability tools are intuitive, user-friendly, and provide actionable insights.
  • Release Planning:
    Collaborate with the Scrum Master and development teams to plan and prioritize releases, ensuring timely delivery of observability features.
  • Performance Metrics:
    Define and track key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of observability solutions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and Training:
    Create documentation and provide training to all involved on observability tools and best practices.

Requirements

You are a highly motivated professional. You are a critical and creative thinker with strong analytical, investigative and organizational skills. You are customer-focused, positive, and committed to excellence. You have a relevant education at Bachelor+ level and excellent communication skills. You are able to function autonomically as well as in the team and are able to switch between a bird’s eye view and go into detail.

You also have:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in a DevOps environment.
  • Knowledge of Asset management business processes.
  • Experience with Cloud concepts, Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps.
  • In-depth knowledge of tools such as Dynatrace and ServiceNow.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Proficient level in Dutch and English, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail along with sharp analytical skills.
  • A process driven mindset with a pragmatic style; can find the (correct) balance between rules and practicality, without loss of quality and compliance.
  • Focus and the capability to separate main and side issues, will not be distracted by the issues of the day, manages expectations, agrees on priorities and delivers on agreements.
  • Experience with ITIL, Audit, Compliance (SOX, ISAE), Agile, DevOps, Scrum and Lean.
  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, Dynatrace Associate, etc.) is a plus
