As a Lead Engineer Shipbuilding, you oversee the daily operations within the naval architecture domain. Collaborating closely with various engineering disciplines and other departments at IHC, you ensure that work aligns with customer specifications, as well as technical and operational standards, to enhance production efficiency and maximize the vessels' quality, safety, sustainability, and efficiency.
Naval Architecture encompasses four sub-disciplines: Hydromechanics, Hull, Outfit and Accommodation, and Safety.
You have the following tasks and responsibilities:
Daily management of the Naval discipline.
Mentor and support 10-20 junior/medior engineers in their professional development.
Supervise and coach the basic engineers naval architecture.
Check the basic engineering documents and give feedback on it.
Contact with suppliers in cooperation with IHC Supply chain management.
Contact with classification societies and customers.
Keep in touch with production engineering and production.
You work in a project team together with colleagues from other disciplines but also from other IHC departments (e.g. production engineering, production).
Your Profile
To be considered as our Lead Engineer Shipbuilding you meet the following requirements:
you have obtained a Bachelor or Master degree in Naval Architecture or other technical discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering);
you have at least 5 years of relevant working experience within Shipbuilding (for instance as basic engineer naval architecture);
you have excellent analytical, communication and problem solving skills;
you have a proactive, creative and flexible attitude;
you have an excellent command of English, with moderate Dutch skills preferable;
you are able and willing to travel abroad.
Royal IHC offers you:
A gross monthly salary between €4500,- and €7.000,- +8% holiday allowance (based on a fulltime working week).

As Lead Engineer you will work at the FD Engineering. The FD Engineering team engineers and produces complex custom-built and standard offshore and dredging vessels. The team is based in Kinderdijk in The Netherlands.
