Royal IHC is currently recruiting a Junior Engineering Manager for our Business Discipline Dredge Equipment in Kinderdijk.
Your job
You will be responsible for developing and coaching the engineering team consisting of 19 engineers. You are contributing to the strategy and timely and within budget delivery of on spec (OSBIT) engineering packages for the assigned products. You will be in close contact and cooperation with other disciplines within Royal IHC to look after the stakeholders interests. In addition, you will work according to customer requirements, technical and operational guidelines to contribute to quality, safety, sustainability and efficient production processes for installations and equipment. You act as a team player in the sense of coaching and supporting. You observe the need for personal development of your team members and contribute to fulfil this. Also you’re playing a key role in allocating the work load to the engineering manpower resources within the product group and to our subcontractors. Another part of your activities lies within developing improvements for enhancing our performances, engineering processes, and safety awareness.
Your key responsibilities as Junior Engineering Manager:
- Create, structure activities, manage and coach direct reports, motivate them though feedback, empower talent and performance management, stimulate team cooperation and employability and ensure succession planning, utilizing the instruments, services and procedures of corporate HR.
- Execution of engineering inside DE for projects and products in accordance with the goals as agreed with the senior users.
- Liaison with all other departments of IHC such that DE engineering can be executed in accordance with DE strategy.
- Creating and maintaining a culture where feedback from colleagues inside and outside of DE is actively obtained and implemented.
- Ensuring that our products are fit for purpose, simple and cost efficient to produce, make proposals for product improvements to product management and lead the development.
- Identify and analyze interface issues of your group with other departments and in cooperation with the relevant managers come to a solution and implementation such that the process is executed in the most optimum manner.
To be successful in this position you have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Marine Technology, Shipbuilding, Maritieme Techniek or Technische Bedrijfskunde.
- Five to eight years’ experience in the maritime sector.
- You are socially capable, you can build and maintain a team and you are genuinely interested in people and how your behavior influence others.
- You have a natural tendency to deliver results as well as can possibly be done.
- An intrinsic drive and skillset to lead continuous improvements.
- You have a customer-oriented attitude and commercial awareness approach.
- Effective communication skills in English (preferably also in Dutch).

Selection process:
After your application, there will first be a short phone call with the Corporate Recruiter. Subsequently, the selection procedure consists of two rounds of interviews. The first interview will be with the manager and a direct colleague. During the second interview, a manager from a different department and someone from HR will join. If everyone is enthusiastic, a phone call follows to discuss the terms of employment.
