JOB PURPOSE

To support the Nutrition Transformation Program, the EU Nutrition Procurement team is hiring a EU Market Procurement Manager – Strategic Development working within the European Collaborative Manufacturing team. The role is project based and is expected to have a duration of 24 months.

The role reports to the Procurement Manager Collaborative Manufacturing Nutrition Europe, based in The Netherlands, and is seen as the Procurement business partner to the Category SC team on strategic projects within Nutrition network in Europe. Key responsibility areas include:

  • Support strategic principles for sourcing network changes with the Category SC team to meet UL ambitions while considering external commitments such as the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan

  • Build market knowledge on trends, market capabilities, strategy shifts, geo-political influences to provide market insight to internal stakeholders and support strategic decision (bringing the outside in)

  • Analyze RPM production cost and create benchmarks for make or buy decisions together with the SC and Category finance teams

  • Prepare negotiation strategy and manage negotiations jointly with the Category SC teams, including (new) CM negotiations.

  • Set-up and create long-term supply agreements and asset transfer agreements with Collaborative Manufacturers as part of the strategic Transformation projects.

  • Manage Collaborative Manufacturing (CM) relationships and lead the (Procurement) transition from Unilever to CM, CM to CM or CM to Unilever in full

  • Co-create the CM network strategy, together with the SC and Category finance & Legal teams and manage possible CM insourcing/outsourcing scenarios.

  • Coordinate and execute the RPM workstream in SC optimization projects across EU in close cooperation with Supply Chain and Procurement Portfolio teams

  • Deliver on key financial targets such as gross margin improvement through savings and cash flow improvement by applying for example smart buying tools

  • Managing supplier relationships as first point of contact for Transformation related portfolio and developing them into regular RPM relationships for sustainable supply before, during and after Transformation

  • Scouting for new suppliers that are fit for purpose and in line with Procurement portfolio strategies

  • Scouting for new CMs that are fit for purpose and in line with the business requirements

  • First point of contact for cross functional teams as quality, R&D, legal, Finance etc. as projects require

This role requires a drive for continuous improvement, through applied market knowledge, supplier development and external/internal stakeholder’s management as well as Suppply Chain E2E understanding.

Establishing a connection with the European market teams is key, especially with Nutrition Business Units, Supply Chain and Finance teams.

A curious mindset and out-of-the attitude is vital, as a lot of the role content is linked to unchartered territory and developing new supply relationship models. Additionally, an affinity for numbers and financial flows combined with strong influencing and presentation skills is essential.

Experience and Background

  • Experience in business management, preferable in Procurement or Supply Chain

  • Master’s Degree

Technical and Behavioural Skills Expected

  • Proven experience in Procurement or Supply Chain with a Finance experience being a plus

  • Strong Negotiation skills

  • Self-starter mentality

  • Strong analytical capabilities (incl. finance)

  • Experience working in Cross Functional teams

  • Experience and understanding of business processes and SAP systems

  • Ability to interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds

  • Strong communications skills and ability to engage and influence others

  • Fluent communication and verbal skills in English

  • Strong ability in managing multiple stakeholders, projects and deadlines, with strong analytical & negotiation skills and “can do” mentality

  • Appetite for change and eagerness to collaborating with stakeholders to drive change & improvements
