The Opportunity
The Senior Accounting Manager oversees the financial accounting team and ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, implementing internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in compliance, financial analysis, and process improvement, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
You lead a team of 5-6 finance professionals, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, smooth accounting operations, and strong internal controls. This role supports strategic financial planning, compliance, and process improvements while fostering a positive, results-driven team culture alongside the CFO. The position oversees financial activities for offices in the Netherlands, UK, Sweden, Ukraine, and Indonesia.
Your role as an Accounting Manager
- Lead and manage the financial accounting team, covering AR, AP, GL, and cost management.
- Oversee accounting operations, intercompany reconciliations, investments, and FP&A.
- Ensure timely month/year-end closures, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, working capital, cash flow, and CAPEX processes.
- Collaborate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies for compliance.
- Analyze financial data to support senior management decisions and business performance.
- Lead, train, and develop the accounting team to build a winning culture.
- Assist in strategic planning, M&A activities, and financial risk management.
- Liaise with international offices (UK, Ukraine, Sweden).
- Ensure compliance with local and federal reporting and tax obligations.
- Align with external auditors for year-end activities.
- Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls.
- Drive process improvements, automation, KPI development, and reporting enhancements.
- Safeguard company data and ERP systems in collaboration with functional leaders.
Who you are
You are an experienced finance leader with a strong track record in managing complex accounting functions and guiding high-performing teams. Your expertise spans financial reporting, tax compliance, and process optimization, gained through years in international and dynamic environments. With a solutions-focused mindset, you thrive under pressure and skillfully navigate challenges while driving organizational goals forward. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and a passion for delivering financial excellence.
What you have
- 10+ years of experience in Financial Accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within an international matrix environment.
- Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and a can-do attitude.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or CMA certification preferred or near completion.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, regulatory compliance, and Dutch tax regulations (indirect and direct taxes).
- Expertise in intercompany reconciliations, consolidation processes, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficient in accounting software (SAP, Workday) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Proven leadership skills with experience in coaching and team development.
- Effective in high-pressure situations and capable of handling multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
- Fluent in Dutch and English with an academic level of thinking.
